Happy National Beer Day! The purpose of National Beer Day is to encourage people to drink beer and join a national party! Beer has played a big part in British history and this event raises the profile of Beer as Britain’s national drink, and to celebrate Britain’s brilliant brewing scene and heritage.
National Beer Day was launched by Jane Peyton, a beer sommelier and writer, and is now celebrated annually by a large group of people. Jane Peyton says: “We have so much to be proud of with Britain’s vibrant brewing scene and the fact that our pubs are a cornerstone of the social health of the nation. Without beer, pubs would be wine bars. Now we have an official day to celebrate beer in Britain so please join us and make Beer Day Britain the best beer fiesta in the world!”
Even though it is called National Beer Day, there is a whole weekend of celebrations and activities. On the official National Beer Day, 15th June, join the #CheersToBeer at 7pm to unite with other beer lovers. Post a picture of you, your friends and family with your beers to cheers, and use the hashtag #CheerstoBeer. Make sure you set a reminder!
The following day, Friday 16th June, is a chance to experiment beer and food, and finding the best combination possible. It could be something as random as beer going well with Cheesecake! If you’ve found the best Beer combo, whether that be in a pub, restaurant or at home, post on social media and use the hashtag #BeerMatch.
Saturday involves going out with your family and friends going to the pub (or staying at home) having a BBQ, playing pub games and enjoying a few beers with everyone. On Sunday, why not treat your Dad to a special beer on Father’s Day?
We have our very own Dark Golden Ale, ‘The Cotswold Pig’, made for us by the Stratford-Upon-Avon Brewery. Stratford-Upon-Avon Brewery was established in 2013 by Richard Williams who had a big passion of making beer at home, so decided to set up his own brewery on his farm. The brewery began to grow and now supplies over 90 pubs in Warwickshire and the West Midlands, and purchased the Norman Knight Public House in May 2015. Stratford-Upon-Avon Brewery pride themselves on using their very own spring water, and all the spelt and hops are fed to the Gloucester Old Spot pigs on their farm.
The Cotswold Pig is a Dark Golden Ale is made the best local malt and is constantly checked for quality. As Stratford-Upon-Avon Brewery is a microbrewery, our beers are made in small batches which means every little bit of flavour is blended into each of our beers. This full bodied dark golden ale has hints of caramel, and is generously hopped with a balanced variety of flavours.
The Cotswold Pig is available on our website as a single bottle, and is also included in a number of our gifts like our Man Box Collection and Bacon & Beer Box. If you want to find out more about our Cotswold Pig simply follow the link below:
We believe our Cotswold Pig matches perfectly with pork scratchings and charcuteries. The hints of caramel contrast with the saltiness of the pork scratchings and enhances the spice of the Cotswold Spicy Chorizo. Why not try it out?
